At Gecko, we’re all about celebrating fresh, local flavors in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Our kitchen isn’t fine dining — it’s better: great food, cooked with heart and inspired by our beautiful Lake Malawi surroundings.

Enjoy fresh fish caught daily from the lake — chambo, kampango, bombay, ncheni — prepared in true local style: grilled or braaied whole to keep the rich flavors alive. Not feeling too adventurous? We also offer delicious fish fillets. Fish availability shifts with the seasons, much like our relaxed bar menu.

We’ve kept Gecko’s legendary pizza oven too — it’s a crowd favorite! Choose from classic flavors like fresh basil, a simple Hawaiian, or a full-on meaty feast. Or go rogue and build your own — it’s all up to you!

For the meat lovers, tuck into tasty goat, beef, and chicken dishes, cooked local style or with international flair. Mornings start with hearty English breakfasts, while light lunches offer a range of options — all freshly prepared with love. Choose from nsima (our local Malawian staple), homegrown Malawian rice, crispy chips, or Irish potatoes sourced from the cool highlands of Dedza. Vegetarians and vegans — we’ve made sure you’ll find plenty to love here too.
